Dyslexia Simulation

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month

Join us Wednesday, October 23rd at 6:15 for a dyslexia simulation!

Ever wonder what it’s like to be dyslexic? The Tutoring Link and The Bowers family will be hosting a dyslexia simulation to answer this question.  Participants will experience what it’s like to go through school as a student with dyslexia while being guided through six different simulations.

We hope participants will gain a better understanding of and empathy for people with dyslexia.

Orton-Gillingham Reader’s Week:

Students will work on phonological awareness (segmenting, rhyming, manipulating sounds), syllable division, spelling patterns & rules, comprehension and spelling using the Orton Gillingham hands-on, multi-sensory learning approach with Laurel. Rising 3rd-5th grades.  5 SPOTS LEFT!

Week of June 29th
Advanced Orton Gillingham Camp:

Dig into the roots of the English language!  This camp is for students who have been utilizing the Orton Gillingham approach.  Campers will delve into morphology and etymology through scientific word investigation with Laurel. Rising 3rd-6th grades.

Week of July 6th
OG for Newbies!
This camp is for students who are new to the Orton Gillingham method of language instruction. Campers will learn phonological awareness skills, syllable types and spelling generalizations with Laurel. Rising 1st-2nd grade.

Week of July 13th
Kinder Readiness:
This camp will help rising Kindergartners get ready for their first year of primary school. Campers will focus is on print knowledge, phonological awareness skills, fine and gross motor skills, linguistic awareness, emergent writing, number/counting concept, sequencing, cutting, and more. Rising Kindergartners.

Week of July 20th
Orton-Gillingham Reader’s Week:

Students will work on phonological awareness (segmenting, rhyming, manipulating sounds), syllable division, spelling patterns & rules, comprehension and spelling using the Orton Gillingham hands-on, multi-sensory learning approach with Laurel. Rising 3rd-4th grades. 5 SPOTS LEFT!

Week of August 3rd

Fine tune math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication & division) with Caitlin. Math games and manipulatives are incorporated into each day for an assortment of math activities, fact review and fun.  Rising 3rd-5th grades.

TBD  Written Expression Skills Camp:
Strengthen written expression skills, learn strategies to develop characters, plot, setting and publish your writing! Rising 3rd-6th grades.

Small groups and 1-on-1 tutoring will be available Monday – Thursdays from 1:00-7:00 PM

What will parents and students gain from these hour long sessions? –  Everyone knows that the college degree is the new high school diploma, but did you know that being smart is no longer enough to get into a good school?  You need to be eligible (graduate high school), you need to be qualified (have taken the right high school classes to be considered college prepared), and you need to be competitive.  Collegiate Concierge & Coaching, LLC works with students and their families to come up with customized college plans.  Join us for an afternoon where CCC will share with you what you need to be doing fall, spring and summer to prepare your high school freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior to achieve acceptance into the right college!

What do you need to be doing today to prepare your student.  What should you be planning for spring and what do you need to be thinking about for next summer? Mary Beth’s Bio:

Mary Beth is an E-RYT 500. She is also a RCYT with 2 full certifications through Little Flower Yoga and Grounded Kids Yoga. She has also studied with Yoga Kids International, Asheville Yoga Center and continues to see inspiration in the work of others.

Mary Beth created Twist Kids Yoga with the intention to bring more mindfulness & yoga to the younger generations. She believes in the positive ripple effect that this work has on the world.

Week of June 12th READ-A-Ton (K-2nd, 3-5th, 6-8th): Students will enjoy a week of reading their favorites while working on reading & listening comprehension, written comprehension and oral reading fluency.

Week of June 19th Math Olympics/Experiment with Science (K-2nd,3rd-5th, 6-8th): Students will participate in a weeklong of math Olympic fun, which will focus on measuring, converting and estimating. Students will also enjoy a daily hands-on science activity while working in teams.

Week of June 26th Be a Spelling Bee (1st-3rd, 4th-6th Graders, 7th-8th): Students will become expert spellers while working on reading and spelling a broad selection of words. Spelling Bee on Thursday!

Week of July 10th Reader’s Theater: Ready, Set, READ! (1st-2nd, 3-5th, 6-8th): Students are exposed to texts focusing on poetry, science, social studies, or other content-related topics and practice reading scripts in small groups.

 Week of July 17th Math Facts Fluency Boot Camp (1st-2nd, 3-5th, 6-8th): Fine tune those math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication & division). Math games and manipulatives are incorporated into each day for an assortment of math activities and learning.

When: Thursday’s, January 19th, 26th, Feb 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, March 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, & 30th April 6th

Available Times: 3-4pm, 4-5pm, 5-6pm, or 6-7pm

Price: $450 (12 Classes) or $40 each session

Program will include: pre-test, strategic math instruction & review in arithmetic, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry & Data Analysis

SAT/ACT Reading & Writing Test Prep Classes

Program will include: Pre-test, test taking skills & strategies, increasing fluency in reading, building confidence in comprehension and improve writing skills to achieve a higher SAT/ACT score.

**Our Reading/Writing tutor has over 20 years of experience evaluating college & AP exams, and has her name on 2 AP books from Kaplan.
